Established in 1911, International Women’s Day is a global movement recognizing women’s achievements, rights, and challenges all around the world. It’s a chance to raise awareness about the ongoing issues affecting women, allowing people to unite and advocate for gender equality.

Celebrated on March 8, the day serves as a reminder that gender barriers can be overcome. Together, we can celebrate past achievements and continue the ongoing fight for women’s rights. Why? Well, despite incredible progress over the past century or more, gender disparities continue to persist.

That’s why NOUL championed the theme of International Women’s Day 2025: Accelerate Action. We pushed forward to achieve complete gender equality. Let’s bring the benefits of a more equal future into the present.

International Women’s Day 2025: Theme & Significance

The big theme for International Women’s Day 2025 was Accelerate Action. The meaning couldn’t have been clearer—it was no longer the time for discussion and delay. This IWD 2025, we urged businesses, governments, NGOs, and individuals to take concrete steps to eliminate gender barriers.

These barriers included restrictions on access to menstrual health products, lack of education for young girls, and systemic inequalities embedded in society. Indeed, one of the primary issues facing women and girls globally is these systemic inequalities. For example, women in developing countries may struggle with limited access to credit and financial services. As a result, there’s a lower rate of entrepreneurship, limiting opportunities and forcing women into low-wage, informal work.

Throughout International Women’s Day 2025, we promoted involvement in campaigns, discussions, and policy actions to promote significant change. With a number of initiatives and events, NOUL set the standard and reaffirmed our dedication to gender equality.

Online Engagement

The events were not limited to in-person participation. Recognizing the global importance of gender equality, NOUL also launched an online “Correcting Gender-Biased Language Campaign,” aimed at identifying and correcting gender-biased language in corporate communications.

Additionally, quizzes and prizes were offered to engage participants in testing their knowledge of gender equality, reinforcing the need for continued education and awareness.

Beyond IWD 2025, NOUL remains committed to gender equity. Our advocacy extends beyond a single day, as we continue to support workplace inclusivity, gender-focused healthcare solutions, and company-wide discussions and initiatives that drive meaningful change.

NOUL‘s action isn’t just empty words. Already, we’re driving change globally with the miLab™ CER, an AI-powered medical device designed for cervical cancer detection. The miLab™ CER is at the cutting edge for rapid diagnostics. It uses machine learning to understand slight changes in cell morphology, recognizing the tell-tale histological signs behind cervical cancer.

Utilizing NGSI technology, the platform eliminates the need for complicated diagnostic procedures and lab work. No more staining, washing, and drying out cervical smear slides. Simply insert the sample and receive a reliable diagnosis within minutes.

Little wonder stakeholders are calling it a game-changing in cervical cell analysis. Instead of years of training in lab work and costly investment, even developing nations can invest in the miLab™ CER, boosting their testing capacity. Plus, with same-day treatment, women with a positive diagnosis can sidestep the long wait times. So, if you’ve walked from the neighboring village, you don’t have to keep making the same trip.

This platform is ideal for locations that struggle to access traditional lab-based testing. It offers a cost-effective solution that can be rapidly expanded, providing cervical cancer screening in remote and underserved areas globally. With the WHO targeting a reduction in cervical cancer incidence of 42% by 2045, only the miLab™ CER has the potential to drive change. Talk about Accelerate Action.
